Bio: A Virginia native with national agency experience, Karen Batalo's independent and innovative personality eventually led her to found Karen Batalo Marketing & Public Relations, where she specializes in strategic public relations planning, and tactical implementation. Her areas of expertise include national, regional and local media relations. She has worked in a variety of industries, promoting both products and services in B-to-B and B-to-C settings. Her experience includes issues-related work such as court cases and grassroots campaigns.
Her successful career includes nearly a decade at Martin Public Relations (The Martin Agency) an Interpublic Group company. Prior to Martin, Batalo worked at Hill & Knowlton in the Washington, DC office.
Client experience includes Bank One, First USA, Castrol, Braun, the United States Virgin Islands, CJW Medical Center, Southern States, Wheat First Securities (Wachovia Securities), Vertex Pharmaceuticals, the United States Catholic Conference, and the Kennedy Foundation.
She received her Master of Science in Marketing from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Richmond. In her spare time, she earned her Associate in Applied Science in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Reynolds Community College.
A member of the Public Relations Society of America, the American Marketing Association, and the Central Virginia Nursery and Lansdcape Association, Batalo serves on the silent auction committee
of the Richmond Ballet.
